“DOLO IN BLOOM”
Dolo in Fiore (Dolo in bloom), on May 1st, has now become a regular appointment at the town’s pedestrian area (Isola Bassa), one of Dolo’s most peculiar areas. It’s a flower and vegetable market where stalls display flowers, plants and gardening supplies. There is also an extensive organic market that offers a large selection of products aimed for those who wish to make healthier food choices. Century-old buildings such as the Squero Monumentale, the mills or the river – claims Marina Zuin, event coordinator – make for an evocative and unique backdrop that every May 1st livens up thanks to the wonderful fragrances of flowers and plants that add a touch of colour to Dolo’s historical centre. The traditional Flower Show is a must-see for locals or tourists with a green thumb as it’s the perfect time to purchase plants and flowers and to fully experience the vibrant atmosphere created by the numerous restaurants, exhibitions and the rowing show of the traditional Voga alla Veneta.
“FLOWERS IN MIRANO”
Fiori a Mirano is back once again in Martiri Square and along the streets of the historical centre – an event that has established itself as one of Veneto’s most significant horticultural shows. Over 120 sellers and exhibitors attend the market and show, that includes big names of high quality gardening brands as well as young nurserymen full of brilliant ideas. The selection of participants will meet and exceed the expectations of the most “sophisticated and experienced gardeners”. You can expect for the little ones complementary watercolour art classes and a small award ceremony at the end.
A wander around the market is perfect to build an appetite. Local restaurants offer spring menus specially-drafted for the occasion that include specialties made with aromatic herbs or the popular asparagus risotto at the Pro Loco restaurant.
“NOALE IN BLOOM”
The flower, plant and tree market-show has been held for 40 years along the streets and squares of Noale’s Medieval centre on the second Sunday of April. Every year, over 200 exhibitors from the horticultural industry gather in town and display everything green and gardening. “Noale in Fiore is much more than a market show – claims Enrico Scotton, CEO of the Pro Loco in Noale, the organisation that organises the event – it is an exceptional spring fair equipped with art exhibitions, street art performances, concerts, crafts markets, guided tours of the natural reserve, workshops and games. All activities are planned to provide a family-friendly, educative and fun experience where visitors can get to know better the area’s history and nature. During the event, citizens will be awarded for their gardening skills based on their care for their gardens or balconies. Nature, art, performances and leisure activities are just some of the key ingredients for this successful family- friendly event.
“ORIAGO IN BLOOM”
Every year in April, the town of Oriago in Mira hosts a flower market-show where hundreds of flowers, plants and gardening tools are on display. “Over 100 exhibitors that include florists, nursery gardeners, farmers and professionals join in on an annual basis – confirms Michele Campalto, CEO of the organisation that is behind the planning of the event – and are the creators of this green feast that enables visitors to fill gardens and houses with lovely spring colours and scents. The market square and the San Pietro Rivera is transformed into a spacious and flowerful pedestrian area and the Brenta Riviera with its villas become the fair’s postcard-perfect background. A string of stalls winds along the river Naviglio. It displays flowers, craftworks, natural and organic products, gardening tools, outdoor furniture and other goods. The hydrangea is probably Oriago’s favorite flower as it is typically grown in Veneto’s villas. During the celebrations, the numeros hydrangeas on display welcome the market visitors and please the eye of tourists staying in local hotels or dining at the town’s restaurant.
