“Take your taste-buds on a gastronomic journey through the seasonal flavors of the Land of Tiepolo; from organic produce to local dishes that are woven into the place’s heritage, the Miranese area has a flourishing food scene” says Tiziana Molinari, economic category manager.
The Miranese is part of the ‘Strada del Radicchio’ and as such, it takes part in celebrating this type of local red chicory, the tasty radicchio, that has its roots in Treviso and Castelfranco. Popular and pretty polished is the Festa del Radicchio in Rio San Martino of Scorzè, where the leafy vegetable is served in hundreds ways -also delicious way, from radicchio-based beer to more traditional food staples.
If you want to sample local herbs, Festa dei Fiori never fails to disappoint. The celebrations are held every year on April 25 and offer an opportunity to taste seasonal vegetables in a diverse range of creative dishes.
In autumn, pumpkins dominate the foodie scene in Salzano thanks to a pop-up food stall area set up in the town’s former textile factory where the vegetable is turned into savory or sweet treats. St. Martin’s weekend, in November, is when Mirano’s main square is transformed into playing ground for the ‘Grande zogo de l’oca’ (the Game of The Goose). And goose meat is also the main ingredient of the delicacies on offer on the numerous food stalls of this town fair that celebrates the end of the agrarian year on November 11. Visitors and locals alike will enjoy mouth-watering dishes such as duck ragù, goose sausage or foie gras. And what’s better than a glass of wine to match wonderfully cooked, hearty meals. Take a break from the food sampling and stop by one of the quaint wine bars and bacari along the way from Noale to Mirano where cicheto (small bites and an alcoholic drink) is a deep-rooted ritual.
