“Fiori a Mirano”, the longest-running flower festival of the Venetian hinterland, is an event of the floriculture sector, dedicated to the pleasure of gardening, to the knowledge of plants and their care, to the search for novelties in outdoor furniture. The 25th of April Mirano is a destination for everyone: for those who love green, for those who are only intrigued and for those who simply want to take a relaxing walk among scents and colours.

The central theme of the event is the rose, in homage to the ancient Venetian tradition of the “Festa del Bòcolo”, according to which, on April 25, every lover gives his beloved a red rose bud. For this reason, around Piazza Martiri and in the adjacent streets, you can find important specialized nurseries, with a rich offer of old roses, collectors, fragrant roses and new varieties created by the best known names in the sector, but also by young nursery artists who bring ideas and new proposals, the result of a rigorous selection aimed at satisfying the wishes of the “guests.” more sophisticated and prepared gardeners.” And then, among the nurseries there is a secret competition for those who manage to expose, on this day, the variety of newer, more fragrant or rarer roses,

But you won’t just find roses. If you are curious or looking for new species, “Fiori a Mirano” is an elegant showcase created especially for you. More than 120 selected exhibitors are waiting for you to offer you the latest novelties or simply the ones best suited to your needs: flowers for pots, shrubs and trees for small gardens, citrus fruits, climbers, perennials, aromatic plants for shady areas, acidophils, bonsai, succulent… And then, when the spring is over, you can replace the bulbs of tulips, daffodils and muscars with summer blooming bulbs: lilies, agapanti, dailies, spikes, canes.

Orthomania: red, yellow, black tomatoes; purple, white, striated aubergines; chilli peppers of various degrees of spice; you do not need a field to cultivate them, they can also grow in pots on the terrace. If you are curious, if you want to try them, you will find them in the square in Mirano. As usual, in the morning there will be competitions for Flower Showcases, Best Exhibitor and Best Garden. In the spaces of the Barchessa of Villa Errera there will be watercolor lessons for children. In the afternoon, instead, on the stage in front of the Town Hall you can attend a musical concert and at 6 pm will be awarded to the children who have participated in the watercolour workshop.

Those who come to Mirano will not find only flowers, because they can visit the parks, the 18th century villas, the Duomo with the famous altarpiece of Sant’Antonio by Gianbattista Tiepolo or the Universal Judgment by De Min., and a moment of gratifying pleasure in the restaurants to taste the menus based on aromatic herbs, the first fruits of spring. and especially with seasonal products of the territory.
